I just wanted to report, in case any remaining readers were wondering, that my post-Wheaton life is pretty damn awesome. I live on my own in a great town that I love exploring. I have a secure job at a non-profit, which makes me poor but not in danger of being destitute. My work gives me a lot of freedom to be creative, and the satisfaction of knowing that I’m doing some good in the world. Even more important, it gives me health insurance. And I have plenty of free time to devote to personal pursuits, like eating babies.
LE, I’m glad your post-Wheaton life is awesome. Thanks for the update!
Glad to hear things are going well for you!
I never attended a Christian college, though I looked into attending Christian Heritage University in Calif. (founded by the guy who wrote the Left Behind books) soon after it was founded because I wanted to become a creation evangelist. Funny, Gish at ICR told me to study biology at a secular college instead because Heritage wasn’t accredited yet, and my criticisms of evolution would be respected more. So I did. I remained a YEC all throughout college, and only began having my first inkling of doubts after leaving college and reading “The Impossible Voyage of Noah’s Ark” which is online today.
So though I never attended a Christian college, I was elected president of the most evangelical group on my secular campus, Chi Alpha, and we stood out handing tracts in the parking lot and hosting a Chrstian band to come play, and witnessing and singing Christian songs in the quad.
Much later I edited LEAVING THE FOLD: TESTIMONIES OF FORMER FUNDAMENTALISTS
Best wishes in all your future endeavors!
